New and Revised University Policies

By Vin Lacovara, CUA compliance and privacy officer

University policies tell us the right course of action when we engage in specific University activities. The policies below were adopted or significantly revised recently.

Information Security and Assurance Policy – This policy was revised significantly to provide specific classifications for different data types and to better define “confidential information.” Clearer guidance also was added for protecting confidential information, particularly for off-campus computing and when using mobile devices. All staff and faculty should be aware of this policy.

Student Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Policy – Consistent with the Code of Student Conduct, this policy was revised to clarify that students may not possess, store, use, or share marijuana on University-owned or controlled property or during University-sponsored events, even if otherwise permitted by local law. All students should be aware of this policy.

If you have specific questions about a University policy, contact the responsible official listed in the policy or the compliance and privacy officer at tel. 202-319-6170 or CUA-COMPLIANCE@CUA.EDU.
