COMMUNIQUE

The Importance of University Training

By Vin Lacovara, CUA compliance and privacy officer

Open communication is crucial to compliance with applicable laws. One way the University communicates compliance responsibilities and the resources for avoiding pitfalls is through required training.

All staff and faculty are required to complete online training when they commence working for the University and every two years thereafter. The University’s online mandatory training consists of four sections:

  • Compliance Awareness Training
  • FERPA Training
  • Workplace Harassment Training
  • Privacy and Information Security Training

All online modules are available at training.cua.edu. Each module addresses key risks we face as an institution and the resources in place to help us avoid those risks. If you have not taken any of these modules, please take a few moments to do so.

Note that compliance awareness training also is offered in an in-person, classroom setting periodically throughout the year and upon request by departments and other units. In-person sessions can be tailored to the specific concerns of the requesting unit.

If you have any questions about University training or want to schedule in-person compliance awareness training, please contact Vin Lacovara, compliance and privacy officer, at tel. 202-319-6170 or CUA-COMPLIANCE@CUA.EDU.
