Summer Updates from University Advancement

Even though it is summer, the Division of University Advancement has been hard at work. First and foremost, note the name change — we are now a division. This includes alumni relations and development working together to increase our alumni participation and philanthropic support to the University (We are therefore “University Advancement,” no longer “Institutional.”). We have reorganized into the departments of alumni relations; individual giving; the CUA Fund; advancement services; and foundations, communications, and stewardship, under the leadership of Frank Persico, vice president for university relations and chief of staff. We also have begun to fill vacant positions with some stellar new staff. Please welcome Donna Tivald, director, individual giving; Nancy Murray, director, individual giving; Victoria Rumsey, manager, stewardship and donor relations; Deborah DuPont, parent program officer; Bethany Silinski, associate director, CUA Fund; and Emily Wagner, writer/communications specialist. Stay tuned as we fill a few more vacancies in the coming weeks.

We have been working hard on strategic planning and training, all in an effort to serve our donors and alumni in the best ways possible. This includes an all-day training session with Provost James Brennan and all of the deans; developing communications and stewardship plans; rolling out a new faculty/staff initiative; and finding new and exciting ways to share the power of Catholic University with our alumni and donors. We had one of our best fundraising years ever in fiscal year 2014, raising more than $20 million in cash and another $10 million in pledges and new bequest commitments. We have positioned the division for more success as we move forward. We are inspired by Catholic University’s students, faculty, and staff, and look forward to helping alumni and donors recognize the power of their support.

Here’s to a successful 2014–2015!
